Vizianagaram: A 20-year- old B. Com student staged an abducted drama to mislead her family members and hostel authorities at Vizianagaram.

The girl was found in an unconscious state with hands and legs tied in a bush near Gurla in Vizianagaram two days ago.

Vizianagaram police chief B Raja Kumari said there were no physical injuries on her body and she was not sexually abused.

Hailing from a village in Terlam Mandal, she has been putting up in the hostel of Degree College at Vizianagaram City.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that she left the hostel on February 27 after informing the warden that she would be visiting her uncle's place and shall return after two days. Instead, she went to meet her boyfriend at Narsapur in West Godavari district.

When she came to know that her brother was enquiring about her, she panicked and boarded the Palakollu-Palakonda bus the same day. She arrived at Gurla on February 28 night.

She walked to the bushes close to the police station and tied her hands and legs with chunni and waited to be rescued.

"She told investigating officers that she enacted the entire drama to cover up her absence and mislead her family members," Kumari said.

It may be recalled that the girl studying at a degree college was found unconscious in a secluded place with her hands and legs tied, on the outskirts of Gurla in Vizianagaram district early on Monday morning. Alerted by eyewitnesses, the Gurla police, led by sub-inspector Neelavathi, rescued the woman and rushed her to the government hospital in Vizianagaram Town.

The preliminary inquiry revealed that the victim is from a village under Terlam mandal and she was a student of a degree college in Vizianagaram. The girl, according to the police, was responding to treatment although she was not in a position to explain what has happened to her.
