Nellore: Three girl students of AP Tribal Welfare Residential School in Rapur mandal, Nellore district, went missing on 23 January. The three class X students—Nagamani, Mallika, and Jyothi—were staying at the SC/ST government girls’ hostel.
According to the police, the students returned to school after the Sankranthi vacation a few days ago. When the hostel warden was marking the attendance at night, the three girls were found missing. After inquiring with their parents, the hostel management lodged a complaint with the police.
CCTV footage near the parcel office showed the students were at Venkatagiri RTC bus stand between 9.13–9.17 p.m on Monday.
Earlier, too, students from this tribal welfare school went missing and were later found in the Penusila forest area. Sources said students from the girls’ hostel leave the hostel premises sometimes and go to watch movies without informing the hostel authorities.
A case has been registered under the Venkatagiri police station limits.
