Vijayawada: Six students went missing in the Krishna river at the Ibrahimpatnam mandal ferry ghat in NTR district on Friday. The NDRF personnel along with the locals managed to rescue five students. A search is on to trace one student who was identified as B. Lokesh.

The incident took place when a group of students was taking a holy dip in the river. All missing students are below 15 years of age.

The police said the search operation has been made difficult by the inflow of flood water in the ghat.

The incident has once again raised concerns over the increasing drowning cases in the state.
