Anakapalle: In yet another incident of crime against children in Andhra Pradesh, a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an 18-year-old-youngster in a village under Chodavaram police station limits in Anakapalle district.

Though the incident took place a few days ago, it came to light on Wednesday only after the victim's parents approached the police seeking stringent action against the accused. The girl is a class 2 student.

The police said that the accused and girl belonged to the same village and the girl was known to the accused. The police said that the girl's parents are daily wage labourers and that she was alone in the house during the day as she had summer holidays.

The accused had gone to the girl's home when her parents had gone to work. Taking the advantage of a lonely girl, the accused allegedly molested and raped her. The girl narrated the entire episode to her parents, who returned home from the workplace. Later, the girl's parents approached the police.

"We have registered a case against the accused under Section 376 of IPC and relevant sections under POCSO-Act. We have formed a special team to nab the accused," said a senior officer at Chodavaram police station.
