High Court Chief Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra administered the oath of office at a function held at Raj Bhavan followed by Hi-Tea.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, his wife YS Bharati Reddy, Chief Secretary Dr K.S. Jawahar Reddy, several Ministers, High Court Judges, and senior officials attended the function.
Who is the new governor of AP?
Justice Abdul Nazir who enrolled as an Advocate in 1983, practiced at the Karnataka High Court in Bengaluru. In May 2003, he was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Karnataka High Court. He was later appointed a Permanent Judge of the same High Court. Justice Nazeer was elevated to the Supreme Court in February 2017 from the Karnataka High Court. He became only the third judge ever to be elevated in this way, without first becoming the chief justice of some high court.
In the Supreme Court, he was part of prominent judgments in the KS Puttaswamy case (which held the right to privacy a fundamental right), the triple talaq case(dissented to hold the practice as valid), Ayodhya-Babri Masjid dispute, demonetization case(led the Constitution Bench).
He retired on 4 January 2023.
