Amaravati: In a major development in Andhra Pradesh, Kadapa central jail in-charge superintendent Varuna Reddy has been transferred and posted as a jailor in Ongole of Prakasam district. This transfer comes in wake of his posting in Kadapa Central Prison where concerns were raised about the safety of the three accused Devireddy Siva Shankar Reddy, Sunil Yadhav, Gajjala Umashankar Reddy, in the murder case of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy.
In a recent update, Telugu Desam Party politburo member Varla Ramaiah urged the CBI director to take steps to prevent "life threat" to the three accused in the Y.S Viveka murder case. Mr. Ramaiah wrote to the CBI director urging him to transfer Kadapa Central Prison superintendent P. Varuna Reddy considering his questionable antecedents.
It may be recalled that Varuna Reddy was the additional superintendent of Anantapur jail, when Moddu Seenu, the accused in the murder of TDP leader Paritala Ravindra, was murdered. He was suspended for dereliction of duty and for allowing a cement dumbbell into the prison barracks when he was a jailor at Anantapur prison. That dumbbell was used to brutally kill Moddu Srinu in his prison room. Moddu Srinu was the prime accused in the Paritala Ravi murder case.
