Anantapur: Major fire breaks out at automobile warehouse, no casualties

Anantapur: A huge fire broke out in an automobile warehouse in Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh. The incident took place in the wee hours of 28 August at the Ramdev Automobiles spare shop near Uma Nagar. Timely action by the fire department saved many lives in the surrounding areas.

After a huge fire erupted on the second floor of the building, locals informed the fire department who immediately swung into action. According to the officials, a short circuit in the second flood might be the reason for the accident. The fire caused property damages worth Rs. 3 crores.

Speaking to NewsMeter, district fire officer (DFO) Srinivas Reddy, said, "We are yet to investigate the reasons for the accident. It is a three-storey building that houses a hotel, an automobile godown, and other shops. There is a children's hospital beside the building. We immediately shifted the patients to another hospital. Fortunately, no casualties were reported."

According to the DFO, a cylinder from the hotel located on the first floor also exploded during the fire incident. Anantapur district superintendent of police Fakeerappa inspected the accident site.
