Andhra Excise dept reissues notification for 301 bar licences; applications open till Feb 4

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Prohibition and Excise Department has reissued a notification for 301 open-category bar licences under the 2025–28 bar policy.
The move follows the non-disposal of several licences in the earlier round of allotments conducted through the draw of lots system.
Earlier allotments and fresh re-notification
Director of Prohibition and Excise Sridhar Chamakuri said that so far, 541 bars in the open category and 84 bars in the reserved category have been allotted.
However, 299 open-category licences remained unallocated. In addition, the government has granted permission to re-notify two more bars, one each in Guntur and NTR districts, taking the total number of licences to be re-notified to 301.
District-wise break-up
The highest number of bars proposed for re-notification is in:
NTR district: 55
Visakhapatnam: 52
Guntur: 42
SPS Nellore: 27
Palnadu: 22
Other districts include Vizianagaram (11), Krishna (11), Srikakulam (10), Bapatla (8), Kakinada (8), Ananthapuramu (7), Eluru (7), Kadapa (6), East Godavari (5), Konaseema (5), Chittoor (4), PVP Manyam (4), Tirupati (4), Prakasam (3), Anakapalli (2), Kurnool (2), Sri Sathya Sai (2), Nandyal (1), and Annamayya (1).
No re-notification has been proposed at this stage in ASR Paderu and West Godavari districts.
Application process and timeline
The Director said the list of bars has been published in the respective District Gazettes, and the application process has commenced. Applications will be accepted through online, hybrid, or offline modes up to 6 pm on February 4, 2026.
Draw of lots
The draw of lots for the re-notified licences will be conducted by the respective District Collectors at 8 am on February 5, 2026. Intimation regarding the selection and issuance of provisional licences will be given on the same day.
Transparency emphasised
Sridhar Chamakuri directed all district excise officials to strictly follow the prescribed procedures to ensure a transparent, fair, and efficient selection process under the new bar policy.
