Vijayawada: A seven-month-old girl, who was whisked away by unknown persons, was found with injuries on her lips and private parts at Bodanampadu village in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh.
Though the incident took place on Monday, it came to light on Tuesday after family members informed the police.
The parents of the girl said she was sleeping in a cradle in the house on Monday night. On Tuesday morning, they didn't find her daughter in the cradle. Though they searched for her on Tuesday, their attempts proved futile.
Later, some locals found the baby girl with injuries on her lips and private parts.
Police have shifted the baby girl to Government Hospital at Guntur for medical examination to ascertain if she was sexually assaulted.
Police said that the girl's father along with another man had been involved in the illegal hooch trade. The girl's father had picked up a fight with his business partner.
Police suspect that the disputes in the illegal trade might be the reasons for the attack on the baby girl. A case has been registered and the hunt is on to nab the accused.
In another incident, Nellore police arrested a man for raping his second wife's 14-year-old daughter for the last six months in Venkatagiri village of Nellore district. The incident came to light on Wednesday after the victim's 10-year-old brother witnessed the beastly act and cried out loud alerting his neighbors.
Police said D Anjaiah had separated from his first wife and married another woman, who has a 14-year-old daughter and son from her first husband.
Anjaiah has been raping his second wife's daughter for the past six months as his wife was away from home. A few days ago, the girl's brother witnessed the rape incident and narrated the entire episode to neighbors and others. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case and shifted the victim girl to the hospital for medical examination.
