The Minister had recently visited Dubai for the Dubai Expo 2020 and attended various meetings in Dubai and Abu Dhabi to attract investments to the State. He returned back to India on 20 February, Sunday.

The YSRCP Minister reportedly suffered a heart attack and he was brought dead to a hospital in Hyderabad, informed the authorities. The news has shocked many in the political circles in both the two Telugu speaking states. The doctors have confirmed, it was a heart attack, a member from the AP CMO told NewsMeter.
Mekapati Goutham Reddy, 1976 born- is the current minister for Industries, Commerce, and Information Technology in the Government of Andhra Pradesh. He is a member of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly representing Atmakur of Nellore district for the second time.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed deep shock and profound grief over the untimely demise of Mekapati Goutham Reddy. Terming Gowtham Reddy as a young promising leader who was known to him since early days, the Chief Minister expressed anguish over the tragic incident and said that words fail to describe the loss of his young cabinet colleague.
Following the unfortunate news, condolences pour in from various political friends and extended family.
Apollo hospital, Jubilee Hills in it's statement said that Goutham Reddy was brought to emergency Monday morning.
He had collapsed suddenly at home. He arrived at 07:45 am and was unresponsive. Doctors said he was not breathing and in cardiac arrest on arrival.
"He received immediate CPR and advanced cardiac life support in the emergency department. The emergency medicine team and specialists including cardiologists and critical care doctors have attended to him," the hospital said.
CPR was done for more than 90 minutes to revive the minister. "Despite best efforts, he could not be revived. He was declared to have died at 9:16 am today morning. We are supporting his family to the best extent possible in this difficult time," Apollo Hospital said.
