Andhra: Make sure only eligible beneficiaries get social security pensions, CM Naidu tells collectors

Amaravati: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu directed the district collectors to make sure that only eligible persons get social security pensions while the ineligible are deleted from the present list of beneficiaries.

Chairing the collectors' conference for the second and concluding day on Thursday, the chief minister said that physical verification should be conducted utilising the technical and hybrid systems to remove the ineligible persons from the list of beneficiaries. CM Chandrababu Naidu also made it clear that irregularities in the issuance of Sadaram certificates to the differently abled should be totally avoided.

Guidelines of medical board

ā€œThe district collectors should examine whether the doctors who are issuing Sadaram certificates are rigidly following the guidelines of the medical board or not and if any doctor is found violating the norms while issuing such certificates action should be taken against such doctors,ā€ the chief minister said.

Observing that the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme is a boon for improving the basic amenities in rural areas, the chief minister told the district collectors to make use of funds from the scheme in a proper way to provide all the necessary infrastructure in villages. If works are executed for 100 days, funds will be released under material components which can be utilised to complete the works at a faster pace, he said.

Already Rs 2,000 crores have been released through the 15th Finance Commission for gram panchayats, CM Chandrababu announced that another Rs 1,100 crores will soon be released. Nearly 80,000 km-long rural roads are already existing, the chief minister said and told the collectors to take steps to interlink the major panchayat roads.

Duty of panchayats

Expressing satisfaction over the development of internal roads in rural areas in the State, the chief minister felt that it is the duty of the panchayats to provide basic amenities like CC roads, drains, streetlights, drinking water and toilets. Stating that the previous government had completely defaced the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme, he said that the TDP-led NDA Government has completely revived all these works.

CM Naidu told the collectors to take steps to promote all the Dwcra women as entrepreneurs as the members of the self-help groups confined themselves only to savings, raising bank loans and maintaining petty businesses. Now measures should be initiated to promote all of them as entrepreneurs, the Chief Minister made it clear to the district collectors.
