Andhra Pradesh: CM Jagan releases YSR Law Nestham funds
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy released YSR Law Nestham funds of Rs.1, 00, 55, 000 for 2,011 advocates.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 22 Feb 2023 10:42 AM GMTTadepalli: For the fourth consecutive year in a row, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy released Rs. 1,00,55,000 for 2,011 eligible aspiring advocates across the state. On Wednesday, the Chief Minister transferred the money through the Direct Benefit Transfer at the camp office. As many as 4,248 aspiring advocates have benefitted from the YSR Law Nestham scheme since 2019.
The Andhra Pradesh government has also established the A.P State Advocate Welfare Fund, where a corpus fund of Rs 100 crore is provided through a trust. Financial assistance such as loans, medical emergencies, and group medi-claim policy shall be provided through the trust. The Advocate General is the Chairman, Principal Secretary (Finance) is the trustee, and Law Secretary is the managing trustee. So far, Rs.25 crore has been released, which helped the advocates during the pandemic.
Addressing the junior lawyers through video conference, the CM stated, "We are conducting this process twice a year in the coming days so that no one misses out and enrolls themselves under this scheme. This was a promise I made during the Padayatra, and our government will continue to support the lawyers in the future,"
