Vijayawada: In yet another incident of crime against children, a 15-year-old girl was gangraped allegedly by three youngsters under Kruthivennu mandal in Krishna district. Though the incident took place on Thursday, it came to light on Saturday after the victim's parents lodged a complaint with the police.
Inspector of Kruthivennu A. Ganesh Kumar said one of the three accused is a 17-year-old juvenile. The incident took place on Thursday night when the juvenile, a distant relative of the victim, took her to Vijayawada on her request to accompany her. Later, he suggested that she hang out with him. He then took her to an isolated place where he and his two friends sexually assaulted her.
The girl then returned home and informed her parents who lodged a complaint on Friday night. The police said that the girl was adopted and that her parents have been struggling with hearing problems. The police said that they nabbed all the three accused. While the juvenile was produced before a juvenile court, the other two were remanded to judicial custody. The police said that a case under relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 was registered against the accused. Further investigation is on.
