AP Cabinet approves Guarantee Pension Scheme, regularises 10,000 contract employees

AP Cabinet approves Guarantee Pension Scheme, regularises 10,000 contract employees.

Amaravati: From implementing the Guarantee Pension Scheme to regularising 10,117 contract employees, the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet chaired by chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday took key decisions.

Important proposals approved by the Cabinet

- The Cabinet approved the implementation of the Guarantee Pension Scheme (GPS) for government employees to replace the Contributory Pension Scheme, titled Guaranteed Pension Bill 2023. It has been announced that the AP GPS Bill has been brought in place of CPS for the safety of employees. The new bill has been drafted in a new way to gradually increase the Daily Allowance (DA) for government employees without reducing the 50% post-retirement pension.

- The Cabinet approved the regularisation of 10,000 contract employees. The contract employees who completed five years in service before June 2, 2014, will be regularised.

- The Cabinet gives nod to the 12th Pay Revision Commission for government employees. As much as 2.73% daily allowance with arrears will be applicable to all employees from January 1, 2022. HRA has been increased from 12 to 16 per cent for those working in district centres.

- The Cabinet approved the implementation of the Jagananna Amma Vodi scheme and the distribution of Jagananna Vidya Kanuka for the academic year 2023-24.

- The Cabinet approved land allocation to various companies that signed MOUs at the global investor’s summit. These included the approval for the allotment of land to various entities mentioned in the signed MoUs, authorizing a loan collection of Rs 5,000 crore through the AP Civil Supplies Corporation, and granting 28 acres of land on a lease basis to the Chittoor Dairy Plant.

- A total of 6,840 posts, including 3,920 posts under police battalion vacancies, and other vacant posts, including 2,118 posts in new medical colleges and other departments, were sanctioned.

- Installing electric meters to 18.58 lakh agricultural electricity connections at a cost of Rs. 6,888 crores.

- Other approvals by the Cabinet also include regular employees in BC Residential Junior Colleges, supernumerary posts in co-operative societies, 116 posts for Kadapa College of Psychiatry, and 23 posts at Sita Nagaram PHCs. As many as 41 medical officers for Dialysis Unit at the Kidney Research Center in Palasa were also approved.

- The Cabinet also gave the nod to open recruitments for night watchman posts in 476 Government Junior Colleges, appointment of Group 1 and 2 posts, and the post of Deputy EE in the Agriculture Marketing Department has been upgraded to EE.

-The Cabinet approved the lease proposal of 28 acres of land for the Chittoor dairy plant and the collection of a loan of Rs 5,000 crores by the AP Civil Supplies Corporation.

- Around 2 acres of land was allotted for National Centre for Disease Control Institute in Guntur.
