AP Cabinet gives nod for state-wide caste census
The census will serve as a vital tool for further development, economic and social upliftment, and improved access to government schemes
By Newsmeter Network Published on 3 Nov 2023 12:37 PM GMTAmaravati: The Andhra Pradesh State Cabinet, in a meeting headed by chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has given its approval for a comprehensive caste census across the state.
The cabinet said that the census aims to calculate the economic, social, educational, livelihood, and population data, with a particular focus on the welfare of marginalised sections. The census will serve as a vital tool for further development, economic and social upliftment, and improved access to government schemes.
CM Jagan emphasised the importance of the data in advancing poverty alleviation, human resource development, and the reduction of discrimination and disparities. This data from the caste census is expected to ensure that no eligible individuals are excluded from government schemes, benefiting the most vulnerable populations.
Apart from the approval of the caste census, the Cabinet also signed off on other projects to aid development in the state.
Hiring experts for government high schools
The Cabinet has given its nod to the School Education Departmentās proposal to appoint future skills experts in 6,790 government high schools. These experts will facilitate the integration of future skills education by mapping engineering colleges to provide training in digital devices, apps, and interactive flat panel (IFP) usage in classrooms.
The aim is to ensure that students receive quality education in accordance with international standards. Regular monitoring of technology usage will enhance studentsā efficiency, and feedback from both teachers and students will contribute to improvement.
The Cabinet has also emphasised the need for adequate measures to safeguard data privacy and security in the implementation of this initiative.
Free land title registration in Polavarum rehabilitation
As part of the rehabilitation efforts in flooded villages of the Polavaram project, the Cabinet has approved a proposal to provide free land title registration for 12,984 families at Polavaram, Velerupadu, and Kukunoor mandals in Eluru district.
Additionally, 3,823 families in Devipatnam, Koonavaram, and Vararamachandrapuram mandals in Rajamahendravaram district will receive registration deeds for alternative land in case of land loss.
Cabinet approves Rs 5,000 crores for Markfed
The Cabinet gave its approval to provide the necessary guarantee on behalf of the government for a Rs 5,000 crore loan sanction to Markfed for Kharif 2023-24 grain procurement. This move will support grain procurement under the Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Corporation and Markfed.
Special package for food processing units
The Cabinet has approved the establishment of new industries in the state, following the State Investment Promotion Boardās meeting on October 30. Furthermore, the Cabinet has approved the State Investment Promotion Boardās decision to provide a special package to two food processing units.
The Cabinet has also approved the filling of 467 posts in the Roads and Buildings Department, which will be done through outsourcing.
