Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh CID has registered criminal cases against Telugu Desam Party chief and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, former minister P. Narayana, and five others in connection with the irregularities in the Inner Ring Road and Amaravati master plan design.

On 27 April this year, YSRCP MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy lodged a complaint with the AP CID alleging irregularities in the IRR design. The CID, on 9 May, registered cases under various sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 against the then Chief Minister and ex-officio chairman of AP CRDA Chandrababu Naidu and others, including Heritage Foods which is owned by Mr. Naidu's family.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the founder of the Narayana Group of educational institutions and former TDP minister P. Narayana was arrested at his residence in Kondapur, Hyderabad, by the Andhra Pradesh police in connection with the SSC question paper leak case. The papers were reportedly leaked from Narayana School in Tirupati of Andhra Pradesh.

TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh, on Tuesday, accused the YSRCP government of the arrest of the former minister and alleged political vendetta against the Opposition leaders. He said the Jagan Reddy regime is resorting to cheap tactics to cover up its failures and misdeeds.

In a statement, Nara Lokesh said that Mr. Narayana's arrest was to cover up the government's inefficiency in the paper leak case. The Narayana couple was arrested in a case in which they had no role to play in any position or manner, he said.
