Hyderabad: Crime Investigation Department (CID) has summoned rebel YSR Congress MP from Narasapur constituency K Raghurama Krishnam Raju to join the investigation.

CID has not disclosed in which case Raju is required to be questioned.

On January 12, CID officials reached Raju's residence in Gachibowli to serve the notice. Sources said the CID officials were not allowed to enter his residence. While the MP's son asked to hand over the notice to him, CID officials said they would directly give it to Raju.

"Your presence is necessary for investigation & interrogation in Cr.No.12 of 2021 u / s 153 - A, 505, 124 - A R / W 120 - B IPC on the file of CID PS. You are hereby required to appear in person before the Investigating Officer, at CID Regional Office, Guntur on the 17th day of January 2022, at3 pm," reads the summon.

Raju has already announced that he will be touring his hometown in Bheemavaram, West Godavari, from January 13 and 14. However, he was asked to join the investigation on January 13.

Pertinently, the MP has announced that he will resign from the Lok Sabha seat. He said he will take a call within one week.

He alleged that YSR Congress party leadership has been desperately trying to get him disqualified from Lok Sabha.

The MP said he will fight by-election and prove that people are frustrated with the YSRC government.

The MP also challenged Jagan Mohan Reddy to quit the CM post if YSR Congress is defeated in the Narasapur Lok Sabha by-election. He said he would also quit active politics if he loses the seat.

It should be recalled that Raghurama Krishnam Raju was arrested by CID officials on May 14, 2021 and was taken into custody from his residence in Hyderabad and shifted to Guntur.

The arrest was on charges of tarnishing the image of the government. A case was registered against the MP under sections 124 (A), 153 (B), 505 IPC, 120 (B).
