Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government on Sunday issued an order (GO142) appointing Andhra Pradesh State Film Television and Theatres Development Corporation (APSFTTDC) as the nodal agency for online booking of movie tickets in the state. All private agencies that are involved in booking online movie tickets will now come under the nodal agency.
The government also constituted a committee to develop a portal for online booking of movie tickets on the lines of the Railway online ticket system.
Further, the state government appointed a committee to study the need for an online movie booking system platform. The expert committee, after a discussion with the stakeholders, recommended an amendment to the AP Cinemas (Regulation) Act 1955. Based on the recommendations, the Telugu film chamber of commerce has given its acceptance for the introduction of an online ticket booking system in all cinema theatres of Andhra Pradesh.
It may be recalled that the government of Andhra Pradesh had issued an order (GO35) to reduce the prices of movie tickets in the state. The theatre owners had argued that the government has no power to reduce the ticket prices and that they have the right to increase the prices during the release of a film.
