Andhra Pradesh police have recovered an 18-tonne oxygen tanker that had gone missing late on Thursday night. The tanker was supposed to deliver oxygen to the Government General Hospital in Vijayawada. Nearly 400 patients are presently being treated at the hospital.
After the tanker went missing, Commissioner of Police alerted all units along the Odisha-Vijayawada highway. The missing tanker was found at a Dhaba at Dharmavaram in East Godavari district. Investigation revealed that the driver had halted at the Dhaba to take some rest.
Sensing the gravity of the situation, orders were issued to escort the tanker. A 'green channel' was created so that the tanker does not face traffic blues en route. Later the tanker delivered much-needed oxygen to the hospital.
