AP releases Rs. 285.35 cr to 2.85L beneficiaries under Jagananna Chedodu scheme

Visakhapatnam: For the second year in a row, the Andhra Pradesh government has disbursed funds under Jagananna Chedodu. Under this scheme, Rs. 285.35 crore was credited to the accounts of 2,85,350 beneficiaries on Tuesday.

Jagananna Chedodu is a state government-funded welfare scheme for tailors, washermen, and barbers who lost their livelihood due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Under this scheme, beneficiaries will be provided a one-time amount of Rs. 10,000. This fund can be utilized by the beneficiaries to purchase tools, equipment, and other essentials to grow their source of income.

So far, the state government has disbursed Rs. 583.78 crores under the scheme. The fund provided to each beneficiary is transferred directly to their bank accounts. The beneficiaries are identified and shortlisted through surveys.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy said, "These are hardworking people who keep themselves self-employed. It is our responsibility to extend a lending hand. We recognize their plight and are taking this step to economically uplift and support them."
