AP: Unseasonal rains ruin standing agriculture, horticulture crops; admin put on alert
Turmeric and chili stocks were damaged due to rains in Guntur, Krishna, and NTR districts

He chaired a review meeting with the officials on the issue of untimely rains and its effect on crops across the state.
The unseasonal rains have caused loss to agriculture and horticulture crops spread over 7,000 hectares of land in Andhra Pradesh.
According to the officials, untimely rains have damaged paddy, chili, mango, turmeric, and maize crops. Paddy stocks were also damaged in Krishna, NTR, West Godavari, Eluru, East Godavari, and other districts
Paddy and maize crops spread over 5000 hectares were damaged in Rayalaseema, East Godavari, Konaseema, and Krishna districts. Banana and mango crops spread over 2,000 hectares n several districts were also lost.
Turmeric and chili stocks were damaged due to rains in Guntur, Krishna, and NTR districts.
Paddy crop which was ready for harvest were damaged in Veeraasaram, Bhimavaram, Narsapuram, Kovvur, Tadepalligudem, Tanuku, Palakoderu, G. Konduru, Avanigadda, Prathipadu and other mandals in West Godavari, and Guntur.
Damage to the mango crop in parts of Manyam and many parts of Vizianagaram district, one of the largest producers of mango fruit in the state, has affected the yield.
Banginapalli variety has high demand in Odisha, Mumbai, Delhi, and a few other parts of North India and abroad. The untimely rains have decreased the quality of the fruit.
Jagan asked Civil Supplies Department officials, to buy those wet grain from the farmers.
"The enumeration of crops damaged due to rains should be completed as soon as possible and the report should be finalized," he said.
In addition to YSR Rythu Bharosa this month, the CM has issued orders to take all kinds of measures to support the farmers who have suffered losses due to untimely rains.
Lists of affected farmers were asked to display in village secretariats and social inspection should be completed.
Officials said that they have already prepared crop loss estimates related to the rains in March. The enumeration is actively going on even on the current crop loss estimates.
