Visakhapatnam: Waltair Railway Division has realized record Rs.17.59 crore fine during ticket checking drive this year so far. The division detected 2.88 lakh cases of violations.
Railway officials said this is the best performance of the division in its history. The division earned Rs. 2.04 crore in September, which is also the highest in the corresponding month of previous years.
Around 165 fortress checks, ambush checks, mid-section checks, massive checks, special drives by the railway board, and others were conducted in September.
Waltair Division Railway Manager (DRM) Anup Kumar Satpathy said the previous highest ever earning was Rs.16.02 crore in 2019-20 which has already been well surpassed in the initial six months of this financial year.
He appreciated the ticket-checking team and commercial department of the Waltair Division for their relentless efforts in checking ticketless travel and creating awareness among the public.
