Nellimarla police have registered a case against TDP activists after a convoy of Member of Rajya Sabha V Vijaya Sai Reddy was attacked at Ramateertham in Vizianagaram district.

Vizianagaram: Nellimarla police have registered a case against TDP activists after a convoy of Member of Rajya Sabha V Vijaya Sai Reddy was attacked at Ramateertham in Vizianagaram district.

This followed the complaint by V Vijaya Sai Reddy after TDP workers pelted stones and shoes at his convoy.

It may be recalled that TDP activists allegedly attacked the convoy of Vijaya Sai Reddy when he was returning from Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple in Ramateertham on Saturday.

The incident took place after Vijay Sai Reddy inspected the beheaded idol of Lord Rama at the temple and performed puja along with some YSRC leaders. TDP workers threw footwear and stones at Vijaya Sai Reddy's convoy and damaged a bulletproof car.

In his complaint, Vijaya Sai Reddy mentioned that during the course of his visit to the temple, people having political motives attacked them with stones and sharp objects with an intention to kill him. Police and YSRC activists saved him from the mob.

He also mentioned that one of his bodyguards identified as Hari sustained injuries in the assault led by TDP leader Kala Venkata Rao and his henchmen.

Reddy mentioned that the followers of Kala Venkata Rao, Chandrababu Naidu and Atchannaidu have restored to such action to kill him. The trio directed the activists for creating law and order problem at Ramateertham with criminal intent to kill him.

"These activists not only created a horrific situation but also damaged the bulletproof vehicle and other government vehicles at Ramateertham," he said.

Vijaya Sai Reddy appealed to the police to take appropriate action against the culprits.

Later, Nellimarla police registered case against some TDP activists under section 307,326,427,503,506,323,120(B) r/w 34 of IPC, 3 PDPPA. Police said the investigation is on.
