Vijayawada: Throwing Covid-19 SOPs to the wind, YSRCP workers celebrated chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's birthday with much fanfare in Andhra Pradesh on Monday.

YSRCP celebrated the 48th birthday of the Chief Minister across the state by cutting cakes, organizing blood donation camps, distributing clothes, tricycles, and fruits to patients in hospitals.

The cake cutting ceremonies were held at party offices, which were attended by a large number of workers. The cadres were seen without masks and hardly maintained any distance.

Jagan Mohan Reddy is the son of late Congress stalwart Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and formed YSRP in 2011 following a fallout with the Congress' national leadership. He led his party to power in the state last year.

Government Advisor (Public Affairs) Sajjala Rama Krishna Reddy MLC Ummareddy Venkateshwarlu, Skill Development Corporation Chairman Challa Madhusoodhan Reddy formally launched a blood donation camp and distributed clothes to orphans, sarees to women, and tricycles to differently-abled people.

Parliamentary Party leader, V Vijaya Sai Reddy participated in the birthday celebrations of the Chief Minister at Vishakapatnam.

Chief Minister on his part took part launched a comprehensive land survey programme in Jaggayyapeta constituency.

Interestingly, the leaders claimed that YSRCP set a world record with 34, 723 people donating blood in eight hours.

Representatives of the Wonder Book of Records International, who certified the record, had presented the citation and a medal to Government Advisor (Public Affairs) Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy at the Party Central Office.
