Visakhapatnam: What was to be a happy day for a couple ended in tragedy when the bride collapsed and died at the exact wedding muhurtham. The incident occurred at Madhurawada under PM Palem police station limits in Vizag city.

The death of the bride led to a dispute between the families of the bride and the groom which led to them filing police complaints against each other, prompting the cops to conduct an investigation into the woman's death.

The police said Srujana was to be married to Nagothi Sivaji on Wednesday night at Madhuravada in Vizag city. The ritual where the bride and groom put jaggery and cumin paste on their heads was over. The ceremony to tie the knot was supposed to take place when the girl suddenly collapsed.

Her family members tried to give her first aid but she didn't respond. They immediately took her to a hospital where the doctors declared her dead.

The family believed that she had collapsed due to fatigue. The wedding ceremonies and hectic photoshoot over the past three days may have taken a toll on her health. However, the doctors reportedly said she had consumed some poison which led to her death.

The woman's family alleged that the groom's family might have said something to her which led to her death. They are baffled by why she took the extreme step on the wedding day. Both the families have approached the PM Palem police. An investigation is underway.

It may be recalled that unwilling to marry the woman chosen by his parents, a 27-year-old had died by suicide just hours before his marriage in Vizag city on Wednesday morning. Pati Dinesh was to be married on Wednesday night but he ended his life in the early hours of Wednesday.

The police said Dinesh worked as a contract supervisor in HPCL and had recently resigned due to personal reasons. Dinesh had reportedly told his friends that he could not take care of his family with insufficient income.

Meanwhile, his parents had fixed his marriage with a woman from the city. Three days ago, Dinesh left his house and left a letter saying he was ending his life. His family searched for him and found him. They convinced him to get married.
