Brother-sister duo hacked to death over property dispute in Srikakulam

Srikakulam: A man murdered his elder brother and sister over property disputes at Ramachandrapuram under Ranastahalm Mandal in Srikakulam district on 7 March.

The victims have been identified as Gorle Sanyasi Rao (60) and his sister Jayamma (55) and the accused is Gorle Ramakrishna.

The police said Ramakrishna had quarreled with his brother Sanyasi Rao over the distribution of cash and property. Both the brothers had approached the local elders but the dispute had remained unsolved.

On Sunday, Ramakrishna hacked Rao to death while the latter was milking the cattle. Ramakrishna then attacked Jayamma who had come to her brother's rescue. Both Rao and Jayamma were found lifeless in the cattle shed in a pool of blood.

The police reached the crime scene and shifted the bodies to a government hospital for post-mortem. They have formed a special team to nab Ramakrishna who fled the spot.

The double murder has shocked the residents of the village. The police said they are yet to ascertain the exact reasons for the property dispute and an investigation is underway.
