Chodavaram Tahsildar, deputy caught red-handed for accepting Rs 4.5 lakh bribe

Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Chodavaram Tahsildar and his deputy for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 4.5 lakh from a businessman on Thursday.

Visakhapatnam: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Chodavaram Tahsildar and his deputy for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 4.5 lakh from a businessman on Thursday.

They have been identified as B Ravi Kumar, Tahsildar, and M Raja, deputy Tahsildar

Officials said tiles business owner S Venkata Rama Krishna lodged a complaint with the additional SP of ACB in Visakhapatnam that both the officials are demanding Rs 4.5 lakh for the mutation of 1.65 acres of land in survey no 113 of Narasapuram village of Chodavaram Mandal. The land was in the name of J Venkata Ramana, who had entered into an agreement with the complainant.

S Venkata Rama Krishna had applied for conversion of 41 cents of land in survey no 353-2A of Narasayyapeta village under the same Mandal. The bribe demand was for both cases.

Officials said a trap was laid on Thursday following verification of the complaint and Tahsildar Ravi Kumar and deputy Tahsildar M Raja were caught red-handed when they were demanding and accepting the bribe amount of Rs 4.5 lakh through Tahsildar driver from the complainant Rama Krishna.

The accused were arrested and produced before the ADJ-cum special judge for ACB cases at Visakhapatnam.
