CM Naidu restarts Amaravati capital project works, calls it self-financing

Amaravati: Relaunching the works for rebuilding the capital city of Amaravati here on Saturday, chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, announced that the port city of Visakhapatnam will be developed as financial capital while a High Court bench and industries will be set up at Kurnool.

ā€œThe plan was to reconstruct Amaravati as a self-financing project. But some vested interests, particularly those who were at the helm of the affairs earlier, resorted to spreading misinformation that lakhs of crores of rupees are needed for building Amaravati,ā€ Chandrababu Naidu said while relaunching the works in the capital region.

Vision 2047

Stating that people in the State are enthusiastic about ā€˜Vision 2047ā€™, the CM claimed that 29,881 farmers had come forward to donate 34,241 acres in the Amaravati region.

Thanking women who fought against the previous governmentā€™s policies, CM Chandrababu said, ā€œOnly a sacred powerful force saved this land where none other than the prime minister laid the foundation.ā€

He said that the State passed through several difficult situations with a 16 per cent deficit budget at the time of its formation while functioning without a capital.

Self-financing capital

The previous government had simply wasted five crucial years claiming there were no funds, the chief minister said and explained the mechanism for declaring Amaravati as a self-financing capital. ā€œIn Hyderabad too we have not spent any funds for development but allotted land and supplied water to those who had developed the city following which assets were created there,ā€ he said.

Declaring that Amaravati would be developed without spending any funds, the chief minister said Amaravati is a mine for generating employment and for implementing welfare schemes for the poor.

Education avenues in Amaravati

He stated that globally renowned institutions like VIT, SRM and Amruth Universities have already started their operation from Amaravati.

Observing that Xavier School of Management (formerly known as Xavier Labour Relations Institute) will soon have its unit in Amaravati and a law school will be established, the chief minister wished that all the top 10 institutes in the country will have their branches here.

ā€œI have already made an appeal to the Centre for a bullet train covering Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai and Amaravati. The World Bank has already given its consent to sanction a loan for Amaravati. I want all the work to be completed on time,ā€ CM Chandrababu said.

Interlinking rivers

Making it clear that the rivers of the Vamsadhara, the Godavari, the Krishna and the Pennar would be interlinked, the chief minister felt that Amaravati was going to be the most beautiful city in the country. He regretted that the State had to face an additional burden of Rs 7,000 crores due to the destruction caused by the previous rulers.

The Centre has already come forward to extend Rs 15,000 crore assistance to the State, he said and noted that the residential towers for ministers, MLAs and All India Service officers will soon be completed.

ā€œThe TDP, Jana Sena and the BJP have come together and we are always thinking about how to save the State. People should now chase out the evil from the State permanently,ā€ Chandrababu Naidu said.
