CM Naidu: Set up solar panels on 438 govt buildings to produce 150 MW of power

Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed the officials to take up an action plan to set up solar panels on 438 government office buildings to produce 150 MW of power. He also made a decision to extend the incentives to Ferro Alloys companies for one more year.

The execute the project, the government has to bear a burden of Rs 1,053 crore.

‘Reduce power transmission losses’

The Chief Minister conducted a review meeting on the power sector at the secretariat on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister directed the officials to reduce the power transmission losses, which stand at 9.20 per cent at present.

He advised the officials to enter into power-swapping agreements with other states to reduce the power purchase burden. He said that under the PM Kusum project 4,792 MW of power should be produced.

The Chief Minister said that the power project companies which come forward to set up the Integrated Clean Energy policy should implement their action plan within 60 days.

500 units of free electricity to power looms

Stressing the need for making Andhra Pradesh a New Energy Hub, the Chief Minister suggested several measures to reduce power generation cost. When Chief Secretary K Vijayanand informed the Chief Minister that the power purchase price came down in the first quarter of the year and as a result of the Electrical Power Monitoring System, the government is able to save Rs 400 crore to Rs 500 crore.

Responding to the power cost-saving measures, the Chief Minister said that quality power should be supplied to both domestic and industrial sectors. He said officials should identify the possibilities of producing power in the Irrigation and Endowments lands. The Chief Minister gave a green signal to provide Rs 20,000 subsidy to Backward Class power consumers who come forward to set up 3 KV solar panels. He directed the officials to supply 500 units free of cost to power looms.

CM orders purchase of 1,000 EV buses

The Chief Minister directed the officials to purchase 1,000 EV buses and set up 5,000 EV charging stations across the state.

He said that with efficient management, the State government is able to supply quality power to consumers without increasing the power tariff. He said ratings should be given for quality power supply.
