East Godavari: East Godavari police have arrested three persons including a head constable for taking pictures of women taking a ritual bath at Sri Suryanarayana Swamy Devasthanam in Pandavulametta.

Peddapuram SI Muralimohan said the wife of the priest of Sri Suryanarayana Swamy Devasthanam at Pandavulametta lodged a complaint that Head Constable working in a wireless repeater station asked his minor nephew to take photographs of women when they were changing clothes after taking a bath.

The boy took some photographs of women with his mobile phone and sent them to Head Constable Kanaka Rao. Later, Kanaka Rao forwarded them to a local leader Rokkan Syam Kumar.

Kanaka Rao and Syam Kumar blackmailed the priest's family to pay Rs 5 lakh otherwise they would make pictures public and that would spoil the image of the temple.

Following the complaint, police registered a case under section 370(4), 370-A(1), 354 read with 119, 386 read with 511 IPC.Section 88 of J.J Act against the duo.

Kanaka Rao and Syam Kumar were arrested and sent to remand. The minor boy was sent to the Juvenile Justice Board.
