Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh crossed 14k in the daily number of COVID-19 cases and reported 14,440 new cases in the last 24 hours on Sunday. This is probably for the first time that the state has crossed 14k positive cases in a single day during the third wave of the pandemic this year.

The highest number of cases were reported in Visakhapatnam- 2258. This is the only district with more than 2000 cases reported on Sunday. On Sunday, the TPR stood at 30.9%.

Seven districts in the state recorded more than 1,000 cases. The second-highest number of positive cases is seen in Anantapur-1534, followed by Guntur-1458, Prakasam-1399, Kurnool-1238, Chittoor -1198, Nellore-1103, and East Godavari-1012.

Four deaths each were reported in Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, Prakasam, and Guntur districts.

On Sunday, AP tested 46,650 samples. The total number of active cases currently stands at 83,610. 3,969 people recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

The number of increasing COVID cases in the state is likely showing a sign of the third wave pandemic situation. According to sources, there are many COVID-19 cases that are not reported to the Health Department of the Andhra Pradesh government. The majority of those who are taking self Covid tests are failing to upload the details on the concerned website if they are tested positive.
