COVID-19: AP records 13,212 new cases, 5 deaths in 24 hours

Vijayawada: Visakhapatnam reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases (2,244) on Friday. Five people died of the virus in the last 24 hours and the state added 13,212 new cases.

Of the five deaths, three were reported in Visakhapatnam and one each in Chittoor and Nellore.

Chittoor reported the second-highest cases (1,585) followed by Anantapur (1,235), Srikakulam (1,230), Guntur (1,054), and Nellore (1,051).

A total of 44,516 samples were tested on Friday and 2,942 people recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. The total number of active cases currently stands at 64,136.

The state has been witnessing a surge in COVID-19 cases. AP is reporting an increase of at least 1,000 cases every day as many districts are reporting more than 1,000 cases.
