COVID vaccination: Andhra achieves another milestone, administers over 3 crore jabs
Andhra Pradesh has achieved another milestone by becoming one of the few states to administer more than three crore doses of COVID 19 vaccine.

The state has administered a total of 3,05,84,215 till Wednesday, according to the Cowin portal.
Health Department said more than 56 percent of the eligible population in the state has been administered the first dose of vaccine. Of the total doses administered, 2,19,88,2817 crore were given as the first jab and 85,95,934 lakh second.
About 41 percent of the total population of 5.25 crore have so far received the first dose, while 15.9 percent of people were fully vaccinated. On Tuesday, the government administered around 12.4 lakh doses of vaccine.
Education Minister A. Suresh said the inoculation of all the teachers was progressing at a swift pace. He said 94 percent of teachers have received the jab. He said the remaining 15,083 teachers would also be vaccinated soon.
Almost 100 percent of teachers were vaccinated in Visakhapatnam, 99 percent in Kadapa and 98 percent in Vizianagaram, Chittoor, and Nellore districts. In East Godavari district, 86 percent of teachers have been administered the jab, he said
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh reported 1,115 new COVID cases. Chittoor reported the highest of 210 new infections, while West Godavari reported 125 cases and Krishna district reported 121 cases.
A total of 1,265 recovered from the virus, taking the overall recoveries past 19.85 lakh with an overall recovery rate of 98.5 percent. A total of 19 patients succumbed to the virus, taking the overall fatalities to 13,857 with an overall mortality rate of 0.68 percent.
Chittoor and Krishna districts accounted for four deaths each followed by three in Nellore, two each in Guntur and Prakasam, and one each in East Godavari, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam and West Godavari.
Around 52,319 samples were tested in the past 24 hours with a positivity rate of 2.1 percent. More than 2,66,29,314 crore samples have been tested so far. The total cases in the state stand at 20,14,116.
