Cycling for women’s safety: Mountaineer Aasha Malviya reaches AP, meets Jagan

Amaravati: Mountaineer Aasha Malviya who is touring the country on a solo bicycle to convey the message of ‘Women Safety and Empowerment’ met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at the camp office here on Monday.

Congratulating Aasha Malviya, the CM announced a cash incentive of Rs. 10 lakhs.

Hailing from Nataram village of Rajgarh district in Madhya Pradesh, Asha began her bicycle trip on 1 November 2022 in Bhopal and entered Andhra Pradesh at Tirupati. Her trip will cover 25,000 kms across the country, including the Union Territories, and her mission is to show the world that women are safe in India. So far, she has covered more than 8,000 kms in seven states, including Andhra Pradesh.

“The safety of women in the state is great, especially the DISHA mobile application. I have downloaded the app which will be of much help during my expedition,” said Aasha.

During her cycle expedition, Aasha met several police officers in the districts of AP. She shared photos on Instagram of her meeting the inspirational CID officer K.G.V. Saritha, superintendent of police, women protection cell, NRI, Narcotics at the AP police headquarters.
