Visakhapatnam: Family members of Dr Malla Shyamala, who died under suspicious circumstances last year, have appealed to the Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to order a special investigation to unravel the truth.
Family members said they suspect it was a murder and not suicide as reported by the police.
B Swamy Naidu, the husband of Dr. Shyamala, told reporters on Tuesday that his wife left for her duties on August 4, last year. On the same evening, she was found floating in the Polavaram canal near Tallapalem.
She was working as a medical officer at PHC in Koyyuru Mandal of Visakhapatnam agency.
Naidu, an engineer by profession, said the Kasimkota police after an inquiry closed the case stating it was a death by suicide.
Circle inspector G Srinivasa Rao said all the forensic reports and circumstantial evidence pointed to suicide. Shepherds saw her talking over her mobile phone throughout the day. As per her mobile phone messages, she was upset over the death of a patient.
