Tirumala: Tirumala temple chief priest Venugopal Dikshitulu has denied the rumors of closing down Hill Shrine for six months.
He said the Darshan of Mula Virat remains as usual in view of the gold plating works of Anandanilaya Gopuram.
Venugopal Dikshitulu, who is one of the chief priests, clarified that the TTD board had decided to take up gold plating works of Ananda Nilaya Gopuram from March 1 in 2023, and will be completed within six months.
He said a week ahead of the commencement of the works certain Agama practices like (Balalayam) will be taken up by setting up a temporary idol.
During the six months period, the devotees could continue to have Srivari Dharshan of Mula murti. However, all the arjita sevas would be performed in Ekantham only from morning Suprabatam to Ekantha Seva in the night as per Agama traditions.
The arjita sevas like kalyanotsvam arjita Brahmotsavam will be performed for the utsava idols of Sri Malayappa Swami and his consorts Sridevi and Sri Bhudevi.
As per records, such gold plating works were done in 1957-58. During the Balalaya fete in 2018, Srivari Mula murti Darshan and arjita sevas for utsava idols were performed without any break.
TTD appealed to devotees not to believe and trust in such false publicity over the closure of Srivari Darshan for six months.
