Don't spare anyone, be impartial: Jagan to officials in MLC driver's murder case
Following allegations by the victim Subramanyam’s parents that the MLC was involved in the case, Jagan instructed the officials to investigate the case thoroughly and ensure the guilty are booked.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 22 May 2022 7:34 AM GMTKakinada: With tension brewing in the Kakinada district of Andhra Pradesh over the death of YSRCP MLC Ananta Uday Bhaskar's driver, Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday instructed officials to take action against the guilty impartially.
Meanwhile, Kakinada superintendent of police Raveendranath Babu instructed officials to take YSRCP MLC Ananta Babu into custody.
Following allegations by the victim Subramanyam's parents that the MLC was involved in the case, Jagan instructed the officials to investigate the case thoroughly and ensure the guilty are booked. "Don't spare anyone; investigate the case thoroughly and ensure the guilty are brought to justice," the CM said to the officials.
V. Subrahmanyam, the MLC's driver, had recently quit his job after working for Mr. Uday Bhaskar for five years. On 19 May, the MLC came to Subrahmanyam's home and took him out. Later, he called the family members and said Subrahmanyam had allegedly died in a road accident near Nagamalli Thota junction. The MLC went to the family's home and handed over the body and fled from the scene.
Twenty-four hours after Subrahmanyam's death, his family protested demanding the immediate arrest of the MLC. The victim's wife, Aparna, said they would agree to a post-mortem only after Mr. Uday Bhaskar was arrested. However, she agreed to the post-mortem after an assurance from the police that they would arrest the MLC.
Addressing a press conference, SP Raveendranath Babu said the police had conducted a post-mortem and a case would be registered under section 302. "Earlier, the case was filed under section 174. Now, the case will be registered under section 302," the SP added.
This is the second time the Chief Minister has instructed officials to take serious action in a law-and-order case. A week ago, he instructed officials to take action against Y.S Kona Reddy in an extortion case.
