ED attaches assets worth Rs. 76L in 2014 AP medical entrance question paper leak case

Hyderabad: The Enforcement Directorate has provisionally attached movable and immovable properties of Ameer Ahmed Kogaluru and others worth Rs. 76 lakh under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) 2002. Ameer Ahmed Kogaluru is accused of leaking Andhra Pradesh post-graduate medical entrance test 2014 question paper.

The attached assets include seven house sites, three plots of agricultural land situated at various places in the Davanagere district of Karnataka, a property in Mysuru, Karnataka, and movable property worth Rs. 36.28 lakh in the form of cash and FD.

ED initiated money laundering investigations on the basis of FIR and charge-sheet filed by the CID, Andhra Pradesh, against Ameer Ahmed Kogaluru and others. Investigation revealed that Kogaluru and others conspired to leak the question paper of the Andhra Pradesh post-graduate medical entrance test 2014 conducted by Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada. They made money by leaking the question paper to some PG aspirants.

The investigation established that 11 immovable properties and Rs. 36.28 lakh worth of cash and FD were illegally acquired from the proceeds of the crime and accordingly the same has been attached under PMLA.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
