Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, on Friday, instructed the Medical and Health officials to initiate an action plan to ensure that every Assembly segment in the State has 100 to 300-bedded multi-speciality hospitals.
Public-Private Partnership
In the 175 segments, there are 70 hospitals with a capacity of 100 beds or more, and immediate steps should be initiated to construct multi-speciality hospitals in the remaining 105 constituencies, the chief minister said. CM Chandrababu also suggested that these hospitals can be built and managed on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) system, and a policy can be formulated on the lines of industry to provide subsidies to those organisations that come forward.
Mega Global Medicity project
Chairing a review meeting at the State Secretariat on Medical and Health, the chief minister felt that the health services should be further expanded in the State. He also directed the officials to take steps for establishing a Mega Global Medicity project in Amaravati. Amaravati should be developed globally in medical and health services in such a way that all the countries should come here for treatment, Chandrababu said.
The chief minister, who said that education and medical sectors are the priorities best health services should be extended with the assistance of the Gates Foundation. Also, if the doctors are not available at Public Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs) steps should be taken to extend basic health services to the patients in a virtual manner, he said.
Focus on precautionary measures
Awareness should be created among the people to take precautionary measures to protect their health instead of providing medical services after they are attacked with illness, the chief minister said. Chandrababu is of the firm opinion that by changing the food habits and lifestyle, major diseases like hypertension and diabetes can be prevented.
25 de-addiction centres
He made it clear that besides strengthening the existing 25 de-addiction centres with Rs 32.5 crore, another 13 such centres should be set up in the State. The chief minister also issued guidelines to fill up the doctor post vacancies at PHCs in tribal areas, set up eight dialysis centres at Vizianagaram, and increase the number of dialysis machines in NTR, Vizianagaram and Bapatla districts, besides upgrading the Kovvur-Nidadavolu CHC.
The chief minister inquired about the progress of a unique healthcare programme, Digital Nerve Centre, developed by the Tata Consultancy Centre being implemented at Kuppam. The Digital Nerve Centre helps provide healthcare using the digital platform.
Data on health
Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) cards have been issued to 4.47 lakh people, comprising 88 percent of the total population in the State, which is the highest in the country. Similarly, when special screening was conducted for 82,693 persons from the tribal community as part of the PM Janman under TB Elimination, 5,072 were proved positive.
While 10,11,461 persons were given screening tests, 1,977 tested positive for sickle cell anaemia. As many as 95.60 per cent of births and deaths were registered in the State, and 13,26,621 child Aadhaar cards were issued.
