Vijayawada: Condemning "fake news" about COVID deaths in Andhra Pradesh, Agriculture Minister Kurasala Kannababu said a section of media is trying to create terror and panic among the people of the state

Addressing a press conference at party central office here on Thursday, the Minister said the state government is conducting the highest number of COVID tests and releasing a detailed report on the prevailing situation every day.

"A section of media has been spreading false information with vested interests. This section is targeting Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy every day. COVID seems to be a permanent tool for them," he said.

Brushing aside the media reports that the prices of chilies and mangoes are falling, the minister said that the cost of chilies today is 15,000 per quintal against Rs 11,000 last year.

He said the Chief Minister has announced a more minimum support price than the central government.

He said the price of mangos remains more at the start of the season and reduces once it reaches the market. He said Chief Minister has instructed that crop procurement should be done at RBKs in villages. He said the state government has set up a Rs 3000 crore crop stabilization fund and a Rs 2000 crore disaster management fund to procure agricultural produce.
