Father-son duo accused of raping two minors in Vizag district

Visakhapatnam: A man and his son allegedly raped two minor girls in a village under Atchutapuram mandal in Vizag district. The incident took place on Sunday evening but came to light on Tuesday when the victims' parents lodged a complaint with the Atchutapuram police seeking action against the accused.
The sub-inspector of police, M. Upendra, said 27-year-old M. Nookalu alias Nooka Raju befriended some minor girls from the village in the guise of providing kabaddi coaching. Nookalu's father Bapaiah also got close to the girls when his son was training them.
On Sunday evening when the girls were playing kabaddi near Nookalu's house, he took a nine-year-old to the nearby fields and raped her. Nookalu's father also raped another girl.
The minor girls told their parents of the incident on Monday. Based on the complaint from the victims' parents, the police registered a case against the father and son under Sections 376 and 506 of the IPC and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act 2012.
The victims were taken to the government hospital for medical tests. The police have formed a team to nab the accused who are absconding.
