Fearing reprisal from their families, two eloped lovers ended their lives at Sattenapalli Town in Guntur district.

Guntur: Fearing reprisal from their families, two eloped lovers ended their lives at Sattenapalli Town in Guntur district.
The deceased have been identified as Kiran Kumar and Pradeepthi, an intermediate second-year student.
Sattenapalli police said the couple might have taken the extreme step on Sunday night and it came to light on Monday morning.
Locals found the couple hanging from the tree and informed the police.
An investigation into the incident has revealed that both of them have been in a relationship for quite a while and wanted to get married. However, family elders were strictly against their relationship.
The duo decided to elope and get married secretly before Sankranti festival.
Police suspect that the couple might have taken the extreme due to fear of consequences from their family members.
Police said family elders were opposed to the marriage, but they didn't threaten the couple.
Police have sent the bodies to a Sattenpalli Government Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered under section 174 of CrPC at Sattenapalli police station.
