A fun trip ended in a tragedy when four children drowned in Pedderu Rivulet at L Gavaravaram village in Vizag on Monday.

Visakhapatnam: A fun trip ended in a tragedy when four children drowned in Pedderu Rivulet at L Gavaravaram village in Vizag on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as N Mahender (7), V Venkata Jhansi (10), V Gouthami Sharmila (7) and V Jahnavi (11).
Police said V Raja Kumari took four children, including her daughter Jhansi to the water-body to wash clothes. While she was washing clothes, children went off towards the deep water and drowned.
On seeing the children in the troubled waters, some of the people jumped to save them. However, all their efforts proved futile.
V Madugula police led by Sub-Inspector Y Tarakeswara Rao rushed to the spot and fished out the bodies.
Police said children were caught in the mire of the water-body. Police have registered a case under section 174 of CrPC (unnatural death) and investigation is on.
