Krishna district: A fun trip ended in a tragedy when five children drowned in the Munneru river in the Krishna district.
The incident occurred on Monday evening. However, it came to light in the late hours.
The deceased have been identified as Balayesu, Charan, Ajay, Sunny, and Rakesh. All are below between 12-13 years of age.
According to the police, five friends went to the Munneru river for a bath on Monday afternoon.
When they did not return by night, the families went to the riverside and found their clothes and bicycles at the bank.
Immediately, the teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Revenue, and Police who were informed about the incident conducted search operations.
Bodies of Balayesu, Charan, Ajay, and Sunny were fished out on Tuesday morning. Rakesh's body is yet to be traced.
Cries and wails rent the air as the bodies were fished out from the river.
