Global Hospital in Madanapalle sealed following woman’s death in illegal kidney surgery

Madanapalle: Authorities have ordered the closure of Global Multi-Speciality Hospital in Madanapalle, Annamayya district, after it allegedly performed illegal kidney surgeries, leading to the death of a young woman.
District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) Dr Devasivamani announced that the hospital was temporarily sealed for violating medical regulations.
She visited Madanapalle on Wednesday, conducted an inquiry into the incident and inspected the hospital premises in SBI Colony. Medical equipment and treatment records were examined and seized. She stated that a detailed report would be submitted to the State government.
Secret kidney transplant leads to death
The case came to light after a woman from Visakhapatnam, identified as Yamuna, reportedly died while undergoing a secret kidney transplant at the hospital. Her husband filed a complaint with the police helpline 112 from Tirupati, following which Tirupati police reached Madanapalle and initiated an investigation.
A special police team led by Madanapalle Second Town Circle Inspector Raja Reddy has begun probing the case. Several hospital staff members have been detained for questioning.
CI Raja Reddy said that cases have been registered under charges of human organ trafficking and cheating against those involved.
