Gorantla Madhav video row: CID confirms TDP's forensic report is fake

Amaravati: In another twist in the MP Gorantla issue, the forensic report brought by the TDP was found to be fake.

A few days ago, a video of YSRCP MP Gorantla Madhav on a nude video call with a woman caused a sensation and became a hot topic across the state. It led to a war of words between the ruling party and the Opposition. While the MP claimed it was a morphed video, TDP leaders said if a forensic test was done in the US, it would prove that it was Mr. Madhav.

Recently, TDP spokesperson Kommareddy Pattabhi told the media that the Eclipse Forensic Institute in the US had confirmed that the video is real. Since the truth has been established, the government should take strict action, the TDP leader further said.

The video had become a hot topic on the social media pages of TDP and Jana Sena. They had criticised the ruling party using various hashtags.

Addressing the media on Thursday, AP CID chief Sunil Kumar said the forensic certificate issued by Eclipse Forensics was fake. He further added that Eclipse lab head Jim Stafford told the CID that the report being circulated was not original. Mr. Stafford said he was asked to authenticate the video and he found that it was "authentic and unedited." However, he said he was not asked to offer an opinion and added he could not speculate on its authenticity without examining the video.
