Guntur honor killing: Girl killed, cremated over affair with boy of another caste
An 18-year-old girl was killed and secretly cremated allegedly by her parents at Mutluru village under Vatticherukuru Mandal in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh.

The deceased was identified as M Bhavani. Locals said Bhavani was in love with a boy, who belonged to another caste. However, Bhavani's parents, Satyam and Sujatha, were not happy. They had asked their daughter to end her relationship with the boy.
However, Bhavani refused, which did not go well with her parents. Two days ago, they allegedly killed their daughter and burnt the body at an isolated place.
Based on the information, police visited the spot and questioned girl's parents. Police said Bhavani's parents claimed that their daughter died by suicide. They told the police that she immolated herself.
"When we asked them about the secret cremation, they gave different versions," police said.
Police have sent the body for postmortem to ascertain the exact causes for the death. "As of now, we have registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC (Suspicious Death). We will intensify the investigation once we get the post-mortem report," police said.
In another incident, the house of a newly married couple was attacked allegedly by the girl's parents in Guntur district.
Parents were allegedly angry after their daughter married the boy of her choice at Ganapavaram village under Nadendla Mandal. Police said the girl had married P Ravi some days ago.
The coupled had even approached the police fearing a threat to their life. When Ravi and his wife were busy in puja, the girl's relatives allegedly attacked the house and injured three guests.
