Visakhapatnam: Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) removed the compound wall of Neha Reddy, daughter of YSRCP Rajya Sabha member Vijay Sai Reddy in Bheemunipatnam on Wednesday.

Authorities said the compound wall was constructed against CRZ norms. The compound wall was constructed for her house in Bheemunipatnam, close to the beach.

According to the notice issued by GVMC, the Town Planning Wing, is an unauthorized structure on the sea-ward side which was constructed without obtaining prior permission from the office and also not submitting NOC from the CZM Authorities which comes under violation of the rules.

It may be recalled that in July, the high court granted partial relief to Neha Reddy over the removal of the compound wall of her house at Bheemunipatnam. The high court directed the GVMC not to take any coercive steps in the case till its division bench headed by the Chief Justice hears the PIL filed against illegal constructions in the coastal regulation zone (CRZ).

Advocate Ponnada Srivyas, representing Janasena corporator Murthy Yadav, argued that the authorities were not taking sufficient action despite the ongoing illegal construction near Bhimili Beach.

On September 2, GVMC said Avyaan Relators LLP has not complied with the notices issued by the GVMC office and as per the Court orders delivered in WP(PIL)No.53/2024, and informed to bring down the structure into the rule frame in the prescribed period and directed to removed the same within 24 hours from the date and time of receipt.

The GVMC has issued notices to several structures including that of Neha Reddy’s at Bheemunipatnam.
