HC verdict on Parishad elections `unfortunate': Sajjala
AP High Court on Friday canceled the Parishad elections (MPTC and ZPTC)
By Newsmeter Network Published on 22 May 2021 4:27 AM GMTVijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Government Advisor (Public Affairs) Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy termed High Court order canceling the Parishad elections (MPTC and ZPTC) as "unfortunate".
Sajjala said that the State Election Commission (SEC) held the Parishad polls as directed by the division bench of the High Court.
"It is an unfortunate judgment ignored people's decision. Elections are a part of democracy and the government conducted polls keeping Covid-19 in consideration. Elected candidates would be available to serve the public during pandemic. The election process was completed under difficult circumstances," he said.
Recalling the earlier incidents, Sajjala said elections were postponed citing the pandemic and every time an attempt was made to obstruct the democratic process. He stated despite TDP's vicious moves, YSRCP will win any election, as people were happy with the good governance of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
On the Supreme Court granting bail to YSRCP rebel MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju, he said everyone knows he had incited violence and hatred among various castes and religions and enacted a drama of police assault. He welcomed the Court's decision of allowing the investigation.
He questioned Raghurama why he insisted on getting examined in Ramesh Hospital and objected to the medical committee set up by the High Court. He said that the MP traveled in his own car from Guntur to Secunderabad. He suspected that some mischief might have been played during the journey. Sajjala said that Raghurama worked under the direction of TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu.
