Visakhapatnam: Severe heat conditions prevailed in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.
Visakhapatnam reported a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius on Monday, which is 5.6 degrees above normal.
Many towns in Rayalaseema, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and North Andhra the State recorded around 37 degrees Celsius causing discomfort to the people.
Kalingapatnam in Srikakulam recorded the lowest temperature of 32.8 Degrees Celsius. It recorded the highest humidity level at 78 percent.
Director of IMD, Amaravati, S Stella said the heatwave was due to the westerly winds blowing into the state. ``This condition will prevail for another week in entire Andhra Pradesh. There will be small drizzles. Rains are also not expected during this period,'' Stella said.
However, the situation would become normal by the end of this week.
She said Tuni in East Godavari and Nellore registered the highest temperature of 37.5 Degrees Celsius each followed by Jangamaheswarapuram 37.4 degrees, Kavali 37.3 degrees, Ongole 37 degrees, Tirupati 36. 5 degrees and Amaravati 36 degrees.
